Canceled! Fantastic Film Festival: JUMBO

This event is canceled!

Film screening as part of Fantastic Film Festival!

Jeanne is a very shy and creative young woman who lives with her friendly bartender mom. She works the graveyard shift at a local amusement park (as a cleaner) and spends all of her free time in her bedroom, building miniature theme park attractions.

One night, she finds the amusement park’s new Tilt-A-Whirl ride and feels an instant connection with it (him/she). The girl names her new love interest JUMBO, and together they experience the rides, textures, oils and feelings endlessly until it becomes clear their connection is more than just physical.

Jeanne decides to share the love of her life with her family and turn her new and unusual relationship into a long-lasting and magical romance.

This colourful debut by Zoé Wittock brims with energy and brings us a unique take on the classic coming-of-age story through a sweet universe where Jeanne, played by the wonderful Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), feels her desires awakened in a way her mother will always struggle to understand.

The universality of the story and the great directorial decisions make Jumbo an unmissable treat.
