Art Stories: Textiles

Free admission as part of Kulturnatten!

Textiles are everywhere around us – in our homes and public environments. What role has textile art played in the design of our public spaces? How have trends, societal changes and political decisions affected textile art? How does textile as a material influence the creative process? And does an artist need to master textile craftsmanship to create textile works?
In the museum's collection and temporary exhibition with Andreas Eriksson, we look at examples of textile art that combines contemporary art, crafts, and cultural history, which soften harsh environments and stretch the notion of what textile art can really be.

Welcome to an Art Stories where we immerse ourselves in textiles as public art!

In Swedish.

About Art Stories

Want to learn more about art? About the stories that art can tell – perhaps about a person, about society, about a time or a place? Art Stories are a series of special guided tours where our educators provide biographical, thematic and historical insights into art based on the museum's collections and temporary exhibitions.

Skissernas Museum follows the government's decisions and the Swedish Public Health Agency's guidelines regarding the coronavirus.
