The permanent exhibition Memory and Monument opens in 2020.

Do you miss anything in the museum’s newly installed galleries? Perhaps a favourite work of art like Sven Boberg’s sleeping Mother Svea or one of the memorials to Raoul Wallenberg? Later this year the museum opens a new permanent exhibition on memorials and monuments from the collection. Monuments through history belong to maybe the most important category of public art. It is an art form that often engages people and creates debate, even today. During the 20th century many artists also started to turn traditional monumentality upside down, with critical, sceptical or even parodic anti-monuments.
