Works that have never or rarely been shown are brought from storage and archives in this experimental exhibition that points to Skissernas Museum’s own process in view of an upcoming transformation. The exhibition shows objects from the past 150 years representing the multifaceted nature of the Museum’s collections with a great variety of media, techniques and expressions. At the same time it offers an opportunity to make works visible and create new contexts for works that have long been on view in the galleries. How can a museum with large collections make them relevant to the present and how can museums today tell important and meaningful stories? Rather than answering these questions, the exhibition functions as an open-ended point of departure for Skissernas Museum to reflect on the role of its collections for the future.
