With inspiration from Finsta – The Arcade Gallery

This spring children and young people between the ages of 7 and 15 visited the exhibition The Return of Finsta, and also took a closer look at selected art works from the museum’s collection. Together with an art educator they have focused on art made on walls, from older murals in Mexico to the modern and contemporary street art and graffiti. They have experienced different kinds of expressions and messages and reflected on who decides what may be seen and exist in the city. How do we share our common urban space? What would you like to see more of in your immediate environment and in the world?

In the Creative Workshop, the young have been allowed to paint freely based on their own ideas, with the joy of discovering and creating as a driving force. They have painted with water-soluble spray paint in many different shades on shapes that exist in our urban environment – train cars, cars and high-rise buildings. Some created with a focus on colour, others on form and message, some on tags and text, and others on print and templates. About 100 young people from grades 7 and 8 at Dalslundsskolan in Åkarp, and children in different ages together with their parents during the Creative Workshop’s Sunday program participated.
The exhibition takes place during the summer.
